Rhodes

Scholarship overview
The Rhodes Scholarships, the oldest international fellowships, were initiated after the death of Cecil Rhodes in 1902, and bring outstanding students from many countries around the world to the University of Oxford.  These scholarships are granted for study at Oxford in a degree program, and are therefore available to faculty members who seek another degree.   Thirty-two American Rhodes Scholars are selected each year, often from an institution that has not formerly supplied a successful applicant.  The selection committee is charged to seek excellence in qualities of mind and person that offers the promise of effective service to the world in the decades ahead.  They are investments in people.  The scholarship normally lasts 2-3 years, depending upon the program, and includes university fees, and a stipend for living expenses.
